NILAI-NILAI BUDAYA DALAM CERPEN “BAHKAN TUHAN TERSENYUM SAAT KAU TERTIDUR” KARYA DEDE SOEPRIATNA: SEBUAH TINJAUAN ANTROPOLOGIS SASTRA

Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview of the culture and cultural values of the belief system in the short story "Even God Smiles When You Sleep" by Dede Soepriatna. With an anthropological scientific approach, to examine how a literary text reflects the culture that exists in society. The results of the analysis of this short story contain four values, namely: (1) patience which is a religious value that must be possessed when having to queue for a long time; (2) motherhood and sacrifice which are the ideology of a woman who makes her a mother; (3) the relationship and connection of humans with destiny and with God when facing trials and receiving a gift; and (4) children as a symbol that can provide immortality and store collective memories. With this approach, a short story is not only viewed from a literary perspective, but is made into a cultural document because it records how a community interprets life, suffering, and death.
