Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between Indonesian–English code-mixing and students’ self-confidence in academic presentations at Universitas Satya Terra Bhinneka. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire distributed to 54 students. The research variables consisted of code-mixing as the independent variable and students’ self-confidence in academic presentations as the dependent variable. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive and correlational statistical techniques. The findings indicate that code-mixing is commonly used by students during academic presentations. However, the use of code-mixing does not significantly enhance students’ self-confidence. Most respondents showed a neutral perception regarding the influence of code-mixing on their confidence level. These results suggest that code-mixing functions more as a situational communication strategy and linguistic habit rather than a key determinant of students’ self-confidence in academic presentations.
