Abstract

The development of digital technology and social media has transformed the public sphere into a highly open and rapid communication arena. However, behind this convenience, a serious phenomenon has emerged: the spread of hoaxes and hate speech, which have the potential to threaten unity, social harmony, and national values. This article aims to analyze the spread of hoaxes and hate speech in the daily lives of Indonesians and examine their relevance to the values of Pancasila, the foundation of the state and ethical guidelines for social life. This research uses qualitative methods with a social observation approach and descriptive studies of people's behavior in digital public spaces. The results indicate that low digital literacy, collective emotions, and social polarization are the main factors contributing to the spread of hoaxes and hate speech. The discussion integrates the research findings with the value of Pancasila, particularly the principles of unity, humanity, and social justice. This article concludes that internalizing Pancasila values in digital activities is crucial for creating a healthy, ethical, and civilized public sphere.
