KEARIFAN LOKAL DALAM PRAKTIK KEAGAMAAN MASYARAKAT KORONG KAYU ANGIK NAGARI GUNUANG PADANG ALAI

Abstract

Local wisdom refers to the cultural values that serve as guidelines for behavior and ways of life in a community, including in religious practices. In Korong Kayu Angik, Nagari Gunung Padang Alai, the community’s religious practices are based on Islamic teachings as the majority religion, which are also integrated with the local traditions such as mandoa, pengajian (Islamic study gatherings), torchlights parade, and competitions celebrating Islamic New Year, 1 Muharram. This study aims to describe manifestations of local wisdom in religious practices in Korong Kayu Angik community, as well as the role of KKN (Community Service Program) students from Universitas Negeri Padang in strengthening the public participation throughout the activities. The method used in this study is descriptive-qualitative, by employing observation, brief interviews with the community members, and documentations during the KKN activities. The findings indicate that the local wisdom serves to strengthen the solidarity within community, to preserve traditions, and serves as the medium for community education in the aspects of religious values. Thus, the role of local wisdom is fundamental to maintaining the community’s cultural identity and spirituality, and requires continuous support from various parties for these practices to remain relevant in the modern era.
