Abstract

Environmental issues surrounding SMA Negeri 1 Wanasari in Brebes Regency such as accumulated plastic waste, used cooking oil residue, and the burning of rice husks indicate a low level of ecological awareness within the community. This situation encouraged the author, as a chemistry teacher, to design an instructional innovation that not only emphasizes cognitive understanding but also nurtures environmentally responsible character. Through the Green Action program (Ecology-Friendly Generation and Real Educational Action in Transformative, Integrative, and Value-Oriented Creation), learning is developed using a Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model integrated with Green Chemistry principles and the Graduate Profile dimensions. The action method consists of six project-based learning stages: identifying essential questions, designing project plans, arranging activity schedules, conducting experiments, testing results, and reflecting on the learning process. Students produced various eco-friendly products, such as soap and aromatherapy candles made from used cooking oil, rice-husk briquettes, organic fertilizer, and ecobricks from plastic waste. The activities involved interdisciplinary collaboration (chemistry, biology, arts/crafts, and informatics) as well as the use of digital technology for assessment and dissemination of learning outcomes. Dissemination efforts were carried out through the Teacher Learning Day Forum and the Brebes District Deep Learning Talk Show to broaden the impact of this best practice. The results show improvements in students' critical thinking, creativity, collaboration skills, and citizenship awareness. Moreover, the school experienced a cultural shift toward ecologically oriented learning and cross-disciplinary collaboration. It can be concluded that the Green Action program is effective in fostering ecological awareness and deep learning values. This study recommends implementing similar models across various subjects through teacher collaboration and ongoing professional development to strengthen the ecopedagogy movement in schools.
