This study investigates the effectiveness of the PQRST (Preview, Question, Read, Summarize, Test) strategy in enhancing reading comprehension among eleventh-grade students of the Electrical Engineering Department at SMKN 2 Tasikmalaya. Employing a descriptive quantitative design, the research measured students’ reading comprehension after the implementation of the PQRST method. Data were gathered through reading comprehension tests, observations, and documentation. Students’ performance was evaluated using a rubric assessing three core components of the PQRST strategy: Question, Summarize, and Test, scored on a scale from 1 to 4. The findings reveal that most students attained “good” to “very good” categories, particularly in the Question stage, which indicates their improved ability to identify essential information within the text. Conversely, the Summarize stage received lower scores, suggesting that some students still experienced difficulty in organizing and condensing textual information. Overall, the application of the PQRST strategy demonstrated a positive influence on students’ reading comprehension, allowing them to process texts more critically and systematically. These results indicate that the PQRST method is effective and can serve as a sustainable instructional strategy for reading comprehension in vocational school settings.
