Abstract
This study examines the moral philosophy of Ki Ronggo Warsito as reflected in Serat Wedhatama, focusing on the concepts of taqwa (piety) and budi pekerti (noble character) as the foundations of Nusantara ethics that remain relevant in the digital era. Although Serat Wedhatama was formally composed by K.G.P.A.A. Mangkunegara IV, it is widely associated with Javanese ethical thought that bears the influence of Ronggo Warsito, a prominent nineteenth-century poet renowned for his philosophical works such as Serat Sabdo Jati. This text contains profound moral teachings and philosophical principles that serve as guidelines for life, emphasizing spiritual perfection, the relationship between human beings and God, and the importance of attaining a true and meaningful life. The urgency of this research lies in the growing gap between the rapid development of digital technology and the decline of ethical values, manifested in phenomena such as misinformation, cyberbullying, and cancel culture in cyberspace. These challenges demand ethical solutions rooted in local wisdom. Employing a qualitative literature review method, this study analyzes how the concept of taqwa is interpreted within the context of Javanese spirituality, transcending ritualistic dimensions toward an essential understanding of the relationship between the servant and the Creator, as well as the internalization of noble character encompassing responsibility, self-awareness, and humility. The relevance of Nusantara ethics is then connected to contemporary moral challenges in the digital era, including misinformation, cyberbullying, and cancel culture, where local wisdom values can function as a moral counterbalance to the negative impacts of technology. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the development of character education based on local wisdom and to enrich the discourse on digital ethics in Indonesia, particularly for the younger generation.
