PEMBELAJARAN BERBASIS PENGALAMAN KERJA MELALUI PROGRAM MAGANG MAHASISWA DI DAAI TV MEDAN: STUDI KUALITATIF PADA INDUSTRI PENYIARAN LOKAL

This study aims to explore the experiential learning process of communication students in bridging the competency gap between academic curriculum and professional demands in the local broadcasting industry. Method: This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design at DAAI TV Medan. Data collection techniques include participant observation, in-depth interviews with interns and field mentors, and documentation study. Data analysis was conducted inductively using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana. Results/Findings: The findings reveal a significant disparity between campus simulations and industry realities, particularly regarding real-time management and the zero-mistake policy standard. The students' adaptation process follows Kolb's Experiential Learning cycle, moving from technical culture shock to operational skill mastery. Beyond technical aspects, students undergo an ethical transformation through the internalization of humanist journalism values (Truth, Virtue, Beauty) inherent to DAAI TV's philosophy, requiring a paradigm shift from sensational to constructive journalism. Conclusion: The internship program proves effective not only as a means of hard skills transfer but also as a vehicle for shaping professional character characterized by social sensitivity and high adaptability.
