Abstract
The purpose of this study is to describe how the Project Based Learning (PjBL) paradigm increases the interest of 11th grade students in learning English at SMAN 1 Montong Gading. The background of this study arose due to a lack of enthusiasm in learning English as a result of the traditional teacher-centered teaching approach. The PjBL approach was chosen because it encourages collaborative activities, creativity, and direct student participation through the completion of real-world projects. This study used a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Purposive sampling was used to select research participants in order to obtain more relevant data. The study findings show that PjBL can create a more interesting, dynamic, and student-centered learning environment. Students actively participate in the learning process, from planning to presenting project results, such as vlogs and posters. There was a significant increase in students' intrinsic motivation, engagement, creativity, and English communication skills. In addition, PjBL helped develop 21st-century qualities, including cooperation, responsibility, and problem solving. Therefore, the PjBL approach has been proven to be useful in increasing students' interest in learning and can be used as an alternative learning strategy for teaching English in secondary schools.
