The low literacy level among inmates in correctional facilities remains a persistent issue, particularly in supporting their educational rehabilitation. This community service activity was carried out at a correctional institution in collaboration with a Community Learning Center (PKBM), focusing on the development and implementation of functional reading books tailored to the literacy needs of the inmates. A participatory and collaborative approach was applied, involving stages such as initial observation, needs analysis, book content development, distribution, implementation in learning sessions, and ongoing evaluation. Results showed a significant increase in inmates' learning motivation, with participants becoming more engaged and independent in their literacy activities. Facilitators also observed a more active and lively learning atmosphere. The provision of context-appropriate reading books not only improved basic literacy but also contributed to social rehabilitation efforts by restoring inmates' sense of dignity and readiness to reintegrate into society. This program highlights the critical role of context-based learning materials in enhancing the quality of nonformal education in correctional environments.
