PELATIHAN BAHASA INGGRIS UNTUK ANAK-ANAK DAN KELOMPOK SADAR WISATA MINANG RUA KABUPATEN LAMPUNG SELATAN

Abstract

This community outreach (PkM) was carried on 13-14 November 2025, involving children and members of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) of Minang Rua in Kelawi Village , South Lampung. The tourism and conservation village of minang rua holds significant tourism potential with its 10-kilometer coastline. However, limited English proficiency among local residents has hindered their ability to fully capitalize on emerging economic opportunities brought by increasing international tourist visits. Through a SWOT analysis, the problems were identified, revealing the need for structured and continuous English training to improve service quality. The training program was designed using a lecture method and a participatory approach, allowing for systematic delivery of learning materials while encouraging active interaction among participants. Evaluation results showed a highly positive response. Of 35 respondents, 85,7% stated that the program was beneficial, 77,1 % acknowledged gaining new insights, and 80% agreed that the program offered solutions to the challenges faced by the partners. Additionally, 82.9% of participants were satisfied with the training content, 85,7% rated the delivery by the instructors were excellent, and 74,3% stated that the program was conducted smoothly. These findings indicate that English language training contributes significantly to strengthening the capacity of local residents and Pokdarwis in managing and developing the tourism village.
