PENGUATAN KARAKTER MAHASISWA DALAM MENOLAK PRAKTIK SUAP SAAT DEMONSTRASI: EDUKASI ETIKA AKSI DAN LITERASI DEMOKRASI PADA MAHASISWA YANG BERTEMPAT TINGGAL DI JALAN SURYA HAJI 07, TEMBUNG, PERCUT SEI TUAN, DELI SERDANG

Abstract

The increase in student demonstrations related to the rise in parliamentary allowances has given rise to a new phenomenon: the practice of mobilizing people with monetary incentives. This undermines the integrity of the student movement and degrades the quality of democracy. This community service program aims to strengthen students' character in rejecting bribery practices during demonstrations, enhance their understanding of demonstration ethics, and build critical awareness regarding mass manipulation. The activity was conducted for students residing on Jalan Surya Haji 07, Tembung, Percut Sei Tuan, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, on Monday, November 24, 2025. Methods included counseling, group discussions, the use of educational posters, and pre-post test questionnaires to assess changes in understanding. The results indicate that the students were not directly involved in the recent parliamentary demonstrations but actively followed the issue through social media. Following the educational session, their understanding of demonstration ethics increased significantly, and 88% of participants stated they were prepared to reject any form of monetary compensation for participation in mass actions. This program was effective in strengthening the students' character as agents of democracy with integrity.
