This study examines in depth the learning dynamics experienced by students of Tahfizul Qur’an at MAN Kota Sawahlunto. The main focus of this research is to explore the students’ motivations in memorizing the Qur’an as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors that influence the quality of their memorization. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and students at MAN Kota Sawahlunto. The research also identifies several significant challenges. A tight school schedule often limits the dedicated time available for memorization and muroja’ah (reviewing). Some students also reported difficulties in maintaining consistency in their memorization when their focus is divided with other academic subjects. The findings of this research are expected to provide valuable input for the school in designing a more structured, effective, and sustainable tahfiz program so that the potential of tahfiz students can be developed optimally.
