This study aims to examine the essence of the state, the process of its formation, the form of government, and the institutional system of Indonesia as regulated in the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. The method applied is library research, analyzing various sources such as books, academic journals, and legal documents. The results indicate that the state is the highest organization with legitimate authority to govern and protect its citizens. Indonesia is a Unitary State in the form of a Republic with a presidential system of government. The state institutions consist of executive, legislative, and judicial branches established under the principles of separation of powers and checks and balances. The relationship between these institutions is built on cooperation and mutual oversight to achieve democratic and accountable governance. This study highlights the importance of upholding the rule of law, implementing effective regional autonomy, and enhancing public participation to strengthen Indonesia’s constitutional system.
