Abstract
As the primary source of Islamic teachings, the Quran holds a very high status, so the process of interpreting it requires great responsibility in scientific, spiritual, and moral aspects. Efforts to preserve the authenticity of the Quran are not only carried out by preserving its text, but also through correct understanding in accordance with appropriate tafsir methods. This article discusses the requirements that must be met by an exegete, such as mastery of Arabic, knowledge of Islamic law, the reasons for the revelation of verses, the knowledge of Quranic recitation, and other supporting knowledge. Furthermore, this article examines the ethics that must be upheld by an exegete, including sincere intentions, humility, objectivity, and avoiding subjective interpretations influenced by desires. By considering these requirements and ethics, it is hoped that the interpretation of the Quran will align with divine purpose and provide relevant guidance for Muslims in all eras. This article emphasizes that preserving the authenticity of the Quran is a significant responsibility that can only be carried out with the high scientific and moral integrity of an exegete.
