Abstract
In the science of mantiq (logic), the discussion of dilālah and lafdzīyah plays a crucial role in understanding the relationship between language and meaning. Dilālah refers to the indication or signification of a word (lafadz) towards a specific meaning, while lafdzīyah pertains to the form of sound or word used to convey that meaning. The two are interrelated because every word (lafadz) has the potential to indicate meaning according to the context and the speaker's intent. This study aims to explain the types of dilālah, such as dilālah mantiq (the meaning directly stated by the word) and dilālah mafhum (the meaning understood implicitly), as well as the role of lafdzīyah as the primary medium in the process of logical communication. A proper understanding of these concepts helps one to think coherently, critically, and systematically in analyzing the meaning of a statement or text. Thus, the discussion of dilālah and lafdzīyah is not only important in the field of Islamic logic but also relevant to the development of rational and analytical thinking skills.
