Sustainable regional economic development has become a strategic issue in the context of decentralization and increasing global challenges such as environmental degradation, social inequality, and economic uncertainty. Development that focuses solely on short-term economic growth has proven insufficient to ensure long-term public welfare. This article aims to examine the concept of sustainable regional economic development, identify the factors influencing its success, and formulate policy strategies that can be implemented by local governments. This study employs a library research method with a descriptive qualitative approach, analyzing various sources including academic books, scientific journal articles, reports from international organizations, and government policy documents. The findings indicate that sustainable regional economic development requires a balanced integration of economic growth, environmental conservation, and social welfare. Its success is influenced by responsible natural resource management, adequate infrastructure, high-quality human resources, economic diversification, and good local governance. Local governments play a crucial role in integrating sustainability principles into regional planning, regulation, and policy implementation. With integrated strategies and the utilization of local potential, sustainable regional economic development can serve as a foundation for long-term regional welfare.
