PERNIKAHAN ADAT JAWA SEBAGAI SALAH SATU KEKUATAN BUDAYA INDONESIA

This scientific article discusses Javanese traditional weddings as one of Indonesia's cultural strengths. The purpose of this writing is to understand the processes carried out before the wedding is conducted. Additionally, the background of this writing is that many people are still unaware of the pre-wedding processes. This will help and increase people's knowledge about the procedures before the wedding takes place. Furthermore, this paper aims to understand the meaning of the pre-wedding processes in Javanese custom. The method used in this writing is a descriptive qualitative method; the researcher aims to explain as clearly as possible about Javanese traditional weddings, including the processions, attire, and other aspects, qualitatively. This article covers various pre-wedding processes such as nontoni, petung, pasang tarub, srah-srahan, siraman, kembar mayang, midodareni, panggih, and ngidak tigan. Based on the discussion results, it is known that in the pre-wedding processions, there are specific actions performed, each with its own meaning. The results of this study indicate that Javanese traditional weddings, as one of Indonesia's cultural strengths, have distinctive features that differentiate Javanese culture from other cultures in Indonesia.
