Abstract

This study discusses the revitalization process of the HMI-Wati Corps (Kohati) movement of the Islamic Students Association of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) as part of the civil society pillar in overseeing the democratization process in Ogan Komering Ulu Regency (OKU). As a women's organization within HMI, Kohati has a strategic role in encouraging public participation, increasing women's political literacy, and overseeing the implementation of democratic local governance. This study uses a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation methods. The results show that the revitalization of the Kohati movement can be seen from the strengthening of cadre capacity, renewal of advocacy methods, and collaboration with various elements of civil society in OKU. The main obstacles faced include limited resources, lack of political awareness of young women, and patriarchal cultural pressures. However, Kohati, FISIP Commissariat, has succeeded in presenting various strategic programs such as democracy schools, women's policy advocacy, and public discussion forums that have made a real contribution to regional democratization.
