PERBANDINGAN KINERJA SISTEM OPERASI OPEN SOURCE DAN PROPRIETARY

Abstract

This research describes a performance comparison between open source and proprietary operating systems to understand the strengths and weaknesses of each in various aspects such as stability, security, performance, cost, and ease of use. Open source operating systems like Linux are known for their reliability in terms of security and flexibility for users. On the other hand, proprietary operating systems such as Windows are often preferred due to user support and application compatibility. This research uses the literature review method by summarizing, analyzing, or describing scientific works, books, articles, or other sources that are suitable for the research topic to be discussed. The results of this discussion found that open source operating systems are generally more resource efficient and adaptable, while proprietary operating systems are more user friendly and have a more comprehensive support ecosystem. It is hoped that understanding these performance differences will help users choose an operating system that meets their specific needs and goals.
