Abstract
Collaboration between teachers and parents plays a crucial role in the successful implementation of the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) for children with emotional and behavioral difficulties. This study aims to analyze behavioral changes in a student during the implementation of a BIP conducted through collaboration among the researcher, teacher, and parent, and to examine its impact on the development of emotional regulation and social interaction skills. A qualitative approach with a single case study design was employed involving one third-grade student at SDN 218 Sarijadi who exhibited oppositional and impulsive behaviors. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the teacher and parent, direct observation during the intervention process, and analysis of documents from the Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA). The intervention procedures included establishing behavioral contracts, applying positive reinforcement, implementing antecedent prevention strategies, and teaching replacement behaviors consistently across home and school settings. The findings indicate that collaborative implementation of the BIP effectively reduced oppositional and impulsive behaviors, enhanced emotional self-regulation, and improved the child’s social interaction skills. The collaboration also fostered consistent reinforcement strategies and open communication between the teacher and parent in supporting positive behavioral change. In conclusion, collaboration among the researcher, teacher, and parent in applying the BIP significantly contributes to the development of adaptive behaviors and the child’s socio-emotional well-being in inclusive education settings. This study highlights the importance of cross-context collaboration as an effective approach to behavioral intervention in inclusive schools.
