Abstract
This study aims to explore self-compassion experiences among Generation Z men in early adulthood who have lost their father figure. A qualitative phenomenological approach was conducted with five Generation Z men who experienced father loss at different stages of life. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The findings revealed three superordinate themes: the impact of father loss on the self, the process of accepting father loss, and self-compassion in coping with father loss. Father loss was associated with decision-making confusion, accelerated maturation, feelings of insecurity, and challenges in social and romantic relationships. Acceptance occurred gradually through spiritual and cognitive coping strategies, secondary attachment figures, and reflective moments during early adulthood transitions. Self-compassion functioned as an adaptive mechanism supporting emotional adjustment in early adulthood.
