ANALISIS PERUBAHAN GAYA BAHASA INDONESIA AKIBAT PAPARAN BAHASA ASING PADA KALANGAN ANAK MUDA

Abstract
This study aims to analyze changes in Indonesian language style resulting from exposure to foreign languages among young people, particularly Generation Z. Indonesian, as the national language, plays an important role as a means of communication, identity, and national unity. However, the development of globalization and advances in information technology have influenced patterns of Indonesian language use in daily life, especially through the phenomenon of language mixing with foreign languages. This study employs a qualitative approach using in-depth interviews with university students as representatives of young people. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews to explore respondents’ perceptions of the factors causing and the impacts of foreign language use. The results show that changes in Indonesian language style are influenced by three main factors: globalization, education, and work demands. Globalization, through digital media and social media, encourages the incorporation of foreign vocabulary into everyday communication. Educational factors play a role through the use of foreign-language learning resources and academic terminology, while work-related factors require proficiency in foreign languages as a professional competence. These findings indicate that exposure to foreign languages has a significant impact on the language habits of Generation Z, highlighting the need for language awareness so that the use of foreign languages does not undermine the status of Indonesian.
