This research discusses the development of the normalisation concept in database management from the 1970 era to modern period 2023-2025. This evolution is a shift in needs from just storing data efficiently to complex data integrity management. This normalisation was introduced by Edgar F. Codd as a systematic approach to evercome redundancy and unwanted data dependency. Over time, the implementation has changed following the needs of the system and the development of database technology. The database has several important criteria such as data independence, flexibility of use, scalability, and minimal duplication. This discusses the development of the normalisation concept from the beginning of its appearance to its application in modern systems, as well as how normalisation still plays a role in maintaining the quality and consistency of data in the relational database. The purpose of this normalisation is to eliminate the types of anomalies that can occur in the database (Insertion Anomaly, Deletion Anomaly) so as to increase consistency in simplifying the database maintenance and processing process. The evolution of this normalisation concept is expected to be understood by every system developer, so that they can create an efficient, consistent, and durable data structure.
