Pemanfaatan Museum Sebagai Media Pembelajaran Mawasiswa SPI Semester V di UIN Fatmawati Soekarno Bengkulu

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of museums as a history learning medium for fifth-semester students of the History Study Program at UIN Fatmawati Sukarno Bengkulu. History learning in higher education requires methods that are not solely text-based but also provide empirical experiences. Museums, with their collections of artifacts, documents, and three-dimensional crafts, play a crucial role in fostering students' historical imagination and analytical skills. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation.

The results indicate that the use of museums, such as the Bengkulu State Museum and Fort Marlborough, remains limited due to time constraints, coordination, and minimal integration into the curriculum. Nevertheless, students demonstrated high interest in museum-based learning because it enhances their understanding of historical concepts and appreciation of local cultural heritage. This study recommends strengthening collaboration between universities and museum institutions, planning structured field trips, and integrating museum-based learning into courses on Museology and Cultural Heritage Preservation Techniques. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for developing contextual and participatory history learning models.
