Abstract
Life within the context of a nation and state requires adherence to established laws and regulations. In line with this, religious adherents are also obligated to follow the legal provisions derived from their respective religious teachings. In Islam, legal rulings are founded upon the Qur’an and the Sunnah (Hadith), which serve as the two primary sources of Islamic law. These sources are closely interconnected and complement each other in the formulation of legal principles. This study aims to examine the relationship between the Qur’an and the Sunnah as sources of Islamic law and to analyze their application within a pluralistic society. The research employs a qualitative approach through a literature review. The findings indicate that the Sunnah functions to clarify, affirm, and specify the general legal principles outlined in the Qur’an. A proper understanding of their relationship enables the contextual and relevant application of Islamic law. Therefore, the integration of the Qur’an and the Sunnah constitutes a fundamental foundation for maintaining the authority, coherence, and justice of Islamic law in diverse societal contexts.
