Areca nut (Areca catechu L.) is a plantation commodity with important economic and ecological value in tropical regions, including West Sumatra. The success of areca nut cultivation is largely determined by the quality of the seedlings in the early growth phase. This study aims to describe the areca nut nursery techniques applied at the Forest Plant Certification and Seed Center (BSPTH) of the West Sumatra Provincial Forestry Service. The research method used was direct observation of the nursery stages, including areca nut seed soaking, sowing, and seedling maintenance. The results showed that seed soaking softened the seed coat and supported the germination process. Sowing in soil media with a thin layer of soil covering and maintenance through regular watering supported the gradual growth of young shoots and leaves. The nursery techniques applied at the BSPTH UPTD were considered effective in supporting the early growth of areca nut seedlings and have the potential to increase the success of planting in the field.
