Abstract
Social capital is a crucial non-economic factor in enhancing farmers’ productivity, particularly in urban areas facing land limitations and urbanization pressures. This study aims to analyze the effect of social capital comprising trust, social networks, and social norms on the productivity of grape farmers who are members of the Indonesian Grape Farmers Association (ASPAI) in Pondok Aren District, South Tangerang City. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey method involving 50 respondents selected through the Slovin formula from a population of 500 ASPAI members. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression after fulfilling classical assumption tests. The results indicate that all components of social capital have a positive and significant effect on farmers’ productivity, both partially and simultaneously. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.930 indicates that 93% of the variation in grape farmers’ productivity can be explained by trust, social networks, and social norms. Among these components, social networks exhibit the most dominant influence on productivity. These findings emphasize that strengthening social capital, particularly through the expansion of social networks and cooperative relationships among farmers, is a key strategy for improving productivity and ensuring the sustainability of urban grape farming.
