ANALISIS HUBUNGAN ANTARA MAQASID AL SHARI’AH DAN CIVIC RESPONSIBILITY DALAM KONTEKS EKONOMI SYARIAH

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between Maqaṣid al-Shari’ah and civic responsibility in the context of Islamic economics in Banten Province. The purpose of this study is to develop an analytical framework that links Maqaṣid al-Shari’ah with social responsibility in Islamic economic activities. This study uses an explanatory quantitative approach with data collection methods through questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The results show that the achievement of Maqaṣid al-Shari'ah varies among Islamic economic institutions in Banten, with most institutions showing better achievement in the aspects of protection of life (ḥifẓ al-nafs) and property (ḥifẓ al-mal). The practice of civic responsibility, which was measured through the community's perception of the institution's fairness and social concern, also showed variation, with certain institutions having a higher commitment to social responsibility. This study found a significant positive relationship between the achievement of Maqaṣid al-Shari'ah and the level of civic responsibility, despite inhibiting factors such as a lack of ethics training and regulatory support from local governments. These findings are expected to provide recommendations for Islamic economic institutions to pay more attention to social values in their operations and optimize their contribution to community welfare.
