Abstract
The management of hazardous goods in the supply chain requires an effective risk mitigation system to prevent safety incidents and operational disruptions, especially in large-scale warehousing facilities such as DHL Supply Chain. This study aims to describe in depth the risk mitigation practices in the storage and distribution of hazardous goods and identify the factors that influence the effectiveness of their implementation. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of semi-structured interviews, direct observation, and analysis of operational documents. The data were analyzed using an interactive model that included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the success of risk mitigation is largely influenced by the consistent implementation of SOPs, the quality of safety training, and continuous supervision, although a gap was found between formal policies and field practices. These findings contribute to strengthening the concept of risk management in the context of handling hazardous goods and provide practical insights for logistics companies in improving their safety culture. This study concludes that the integration of technical, administrative, and technological support controls is key to effective mitigation, and recommends further studies that expand the scope and compare across industry sectors.
