Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of work-family conflict, self-efficacy, and work-life balance on the performance of Generation Z digital freelancers in Yogyakarta. The research sample consisted of 150 respondents selected using purposive sampling technique. Data collection was conducted through online questionnaires using a 5-point Likert scale. Data analysis technique used multiple linear regression with SPSS software.

The research results show that: (1) work-family conflict has a negative and significant effect on performance (β = -0.579; p = 0.000), indicating that higher work-family conflict reduces freelancer performance; (2) self-efficacy has a positive and significant effect on performance (β = 0.861; p = 0.000), demonstrating that high self-confidence substantially enhances performance; (3) work-life balance has a positive and significant effect on performance (β = 0.763; p = 0.000), proving that work-life equilibrium contributes positively to productivity; and (4) the three variables simultaneously have a significant effect on performance with a contribution of 78.2% (R² = 0.782; F = 174.410; p = 0.000). These findings strengthen the Conservation of Resources (COR) theory, which explains that role conflict depletes individual resources, while self-efficacy and work-life balance help maintain them. This study provides implications for freelancers to strengthen self-confidence and maintain work-life balance to improve performance.
