Abstract

Of the many tourist destinations in Bengkulu city, too many are based solely on nature and water, neglecting the local culture. As we know, culture-based tourism in Bengkulu is limited to the annual Tabut Festival, which focuses only on preservation. Educational and special interest tourism can utilize cultural heritage sites like Taman Budaya as a venue for recreation, education, and direct learning with experts.Using a qualitative approach, this study employs a case study method on several activities: make-up classes, dance classes, batik-making classes, and exhibitions. The research findings show that educational tourism not only enhances a destination's appeal by offering unique and valuable products but also contributes to skill development, cultural awareness, and community involvement. These activities have successfully attracted new tourist segments, created economic opportunities for local instructors and entrepreneurs, and built the destination's image as a center for creativity and learning. It is concluded that integrating educational tourism is an effective strategy to strengthen a destination's position in the global market, encourage the diversification of tourism products, and create more meaningful experiences for tourists.
