Abstract

Raflesia ZooLand is a revitalization concept of the former Taman Remaja or zoo located in Lingkar Timur, Singaran Pati District, Bengkulu City, which is currently abandoned. This area is being redeveloped by adopting Rafflesia arnoldii as Bengkulu’s local icon and by offering a dual function as recreational and educational tourism. Recreational tourism is intended as a means of entertainment, relaxation, and family gathering through facilities such as a nature-themed aesthetic café, children’s playground, family park, prayer room, souvenir shop, and thematic photo spots. Meanwhile, educational tourism is designed to provide interactive learning about wildlife, Bengkulu’s unique flora, and environmental awareness through animal shows, informative signboards, guided tours, and regulations that teach visitors to maintain cleanliness and avoid feeding animals carelessly.

This study aims to analyze the potential, challenges, development strategies, and guided tour simulation of Raflesia ZooLand. The research method used is descriptive qualitative based on library research, utilizing academic literature, official reports, and media publications. The findings show that Raflesia ZooLand has strong potential due to the identity of the Rafflesia flower, the historical value of Taman Remaja, its strategic location, and the opportunity to integrate modern facilities. The main challenges include limited infrastructure, minimal facilities, weak promotion, and a lack of professional management.

Development strategies are directed toward infrastructure revitalization, strengthening local identity branding, digital promotion, and multi-stakeholder collaboration. The revitalization of Raflesia ZooLand is projected to create significant social, economic, and environmental impacts. The guided tour simulation further indicates that this destination has the potential to become a recreational, educational, and family-friendly attraction, as well as a new tourism icon for Bengkulu City.
